Pushing the Boundaries of Engineering

Jaivel is a company that has profound belief in the quality and innovation of British engineering! The core DNA of the company has been identified as having synergies with a new iconic British project as the company has agreed to support the development of the BLOODHOUND SSC (Supersonic Car) and the efforts to achieve the land speed record and break the 1ooo miles per hour speed barrier.
Described by Project Director – Richard Noble as “The engineering adventure of the 21st century” pilot (or is that “driver”) Andy Green who with Richard Noble currently hold the record at 763.035 miles per hour in Thrust 2 said of recent developments “Since Hampson Engineering agreed to build the rear half of the chassis for us, the BLOODHOUND Design Office has been working flat out producing the detailed designs. The drawings for the lower chassis are now being released and BLOODHOUND is being manufactured – what a great way to start 2011. “
As providers of “Digital Manufacturing Services” to Hampson Engineering, Jaivel is intrinsically linked and was honoured to be asked to be part of the growing support team. All the machined components required in the rear half of the chassis will be engineered for manufacture by Jaivel, machined and built by Hampson at their facility in the North West.
BLOODHOUND SSC is also an “Education Programme” and includes a range of activities and curriculum resources for primary through to undergraduate level. It is supported by the Department for Education and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). It is endorsed by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). The BLOODHOUND SSC mission aim is: To inspire future generations to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics by showcasing these subjects in the most exciting way possible in schools, colleges and universities.
To support the Education Programme, there is a network of BLOODHOUND SSC Ambassadors who can visit schools and colleges to deliver presentations and activities. All are registered STEM Ambassadors (or other registered scheme), and are well trained, resourced and motivated to ensure that schools and the general public have maximum access to the Project, its technology, progress and an opportunity to visit events where the Project team are exhibiting. We at Jaivel will continue to support this project through to the attempt being made in 2012 and report the progress of BLOODHOUND SSC in our quarterly newsletter.
